My students will be using these graphic novels to learn about making inferences through pictures. My students will also learn discussion skills that they can use to effectively communicate with their peers. This is a skill that will help them their entire lives. My students will enjoy participating in book clubs, just as adults do.
My students will engage in meaningful, deep conversations with their peers on themes focused around social problems that teens face everyday. When students have text in front of them that they can relate to, they can apply the lessons from the book to their own lives.
