I would like to add wobble seats and bouncy bands to our classroom. This movement will help provide my students the ability to concentrate during independent reading time. Keeping their bodies in motion will keep their minds in motion also.
Flexible seating will provide students the ability to move while staying on task and limit the distraction to other students. Ultimately, this will be helpful in providing choices to students that need extra, innovative tools to be successful. Some students don't do well in school because they are told to be still constantly. They are more focused on sitting still rather than the learning. These seats and bands will allow them an outlet so that they can move while they learn. How exciting is that?!
Students thrive on choices. I love being a teacher that can provide them with those choices and make learning fun. It's a win, win for everyone!
