By redesigning my classroom, I will create a learner focused and flexible learning environment that can adapt to my lessons as well as my students’ needs. Right now, our class has large individual desks that not only take up a lot of space and make it difficult to move around, but also make it difficult for students to communicate and collaborate. Both of which are key 21st century skills!
My goal is to create a classroom that empowers my students to take ownership over their learning. My students are empowered to understand their needs, strengths, interests, and approaches to learning. When my students have this understanding, I can then create lessons where the content, instructional technology, and pace of learning are based upon the abilities and interest of each learner.
The donations for this project will help redesign my classroom to create a space where personalized learning can occur. These tables will allow my students to collaborate more easily and take up less space than the desks. With over 30 students per class, this will make a huge difference in creating space in the classroom! These tables are also going to be great because they are on wheels and can flip. This means they can easily be manipulated depending on the lesson and my students’ needs.
