Performing in front of an audience is a great way for students to hone their communication skills! I hope that performing some holidays songs will be a memorable experience for my students and that they will remember for it for many years to come. I am excited to help provide this opportunity for my students. The band will perform Somewhere in My Memory from Home Alone and the Holiday Medley entitled Holiday Shortcuts for Beginning Band in our December concert.
My band students are ready to start reading more sheet music and this project will help them achieve that goal. (Up to this point, they have played lots of short songs out of their methods book, Essential Elements 2000.)
The percussionists will be so excited to use their new percussion equipment. The "slapstick" and "sleigh bells" are required for the sleigh ride portion of the "Holiday Medley". Using these instruments will give them more experience using different auxiliary percussion instruments.
