Moving from short stories to novels can be intimidating for students. The length can be intimidating, and their fear of not understanding impacts their ability to apply the language skills they have. However, when the stories they read are engaging, have a limited vocabulary count, and can be read as a large group, many of these fears can be quelled. Class sets of novels allow students to read as a large group, in small groups or pairs and individually while still permitting for full class discussion of the story to check comprehension.
By donating to this project you give students the opportunity to read a novel in a non-threatening way. You will give them the opportunity to be successful readers.
