Students love singing songs and playing instruments in my classroom! However, the missing ingredient to fully understanding music is the lack of ability to read and understand music notation. When a student is able to identify the markings (notes, rhythms, etc.) in a piece of music, their full potential as budding musicians is able to realized.
Students who develop music literacy have full ownership of the music-making process! These are skills they will use their entire life every time they make music. The step-by-step approach used in the books we are asking for gives children music/rhythm reading tools in an accessible, easy to understand way.
