Our school is considered an inner-city school, with a population of 75% Hispanic/Latino, 20% African American, and 5% Eastern European and Caucasian students. We have 1,000 pre-K - fifth grade students. We are a Title One School based on the low Socio-Economic-Status. But despite the challenges we face our students are fantastic. We are notorious opponents during sports competitions, with many first place trophies for basketball and cheerleading. For the last 10 years our spring plays produce standing ovations. Academics are important to students and teachers and we work hard to keep high expectations for achievement, using best practices for education. Because our district does not pay competitively, it is always difficult to attract and keep high quality teachers and administrators. We will be hiring our third principal within 5 years. Our teachers go above and beyond, volunteering for programs to challenge students and support life-long balanced learning.
