Having 4 iPads to incorporate into our classroom will be so incredibly beneficial for my students. They have come up with the following ways that iPads will help them:
“iPads will make learning fun”
“iPads will help me learn at my own pace and level because of the variety of apps that can be downloaded”
“iPads will help make me more technologically savvy which is important in today’s world”
Beyond the ideas that my students came up with, the iPads can be used to improve literacy, math and social skills. They can be used for research, presentations and practice across subject areas.
The majority of my students are currently performing below grade level in reading and math. iPads will expose them to more literacy and math through apps that allow them to gain access to electronic books (including textbooks), academic videos and games as well as hands on experiential learning. iPads will also allow them to access dictionaries and thesaurus’ in order to improve their reading and writing skills.
Another great thing about having iPads in the classroom is that it allows students to interact with other students and teachers by providing and receiving immediate, meaningful, and personalized feedback from peers.
iPads also have the ability to translate for my non English speaking students in addition to having it read to them for exposure to modeled fluency.
The possibilities are seemingly endless and having this opportunity would mean so much to my students and me. Thank you for your time and consideration.
