My students need four sets of Lakeshore Fiction and Nonfiction leveled reading books to develop their sight word recognition and build their reading fluency. My students love reading these leveled readers! As new readers, they feel confident when reading books that are interesting and provide engaging visuals. 75% of my students are English language learners and one crucial component to the development of their learning is practicing their reading skills.
During our independent reading time and reading workshop, my students work on building their reading skills and applying various reading strategies. The books that we need specifically focus on developing students fluency with sight words. I know that these books will help my students become fluent readers and therefore be better-prepared for 1st grade.
