I work with many motivated and hard working students in 2nd through 8th grade who struggle with reading grade-level materials. They have not reached their academic potential in their general education setting and come to me for academic intervention.
One of our primary goals is to improve the students' reading levels while exposing them to social, political, and health related issues. Most of my students lack awareness about the world around them due to limited exposure and resources.
The Scholastic Magazines presents high interest articles that appeal to students in the elementary grades. The articles are written by students for students. Scholastic Magazines would appeal to my students' interests, raise their level of awareness, and strengthen their reading abilities. Scholastic News boasts, "Scholastic Magazines spark curiosity, conversation, and deeper learning. Scholastic Magazines meet students at their level with stories on their level, building knowledge and skills with exciting content."
