My students are excited about learning all about history. My students are always eager to learn about new topics, but sometimes textbook resources don't provide a fun and exciting way to learn while incorporating literacy. Because our school has limited funding, we do not have a enough books in our series to allow for independent reading for a large group of 5th graders. I feel that if each child had their own book, it would allow for my students to become more actively engaged. These books contain great historical stories that will tie in to my science and social studies standards for our state. Receiving these books would allow my students a joyful ride on the "Literacy Train Through 5th Grade History!"
