The way these materials will help my students is by giving them the opportunity to work with mini robots that can guide their learning of new found knowledge in computer science, programing, coding, engineering, and mathematics. Fortunately, with your generous donations my students may get that opportunity to work with new technology and be able to finally apply what they have been studying.
My objectives in using these robots its to have students work collaboratively with their peers in groups of 4 and have them program the robots using javascript software that will be impeded in the app installed on the iPod touch. This will provide the teams the opportunity to create codes to tell the robot what direction to travel in, a specific distance, and design precision turning points based upon tracks they create and/or obstacle courses.
By implementing this type of project in the classroom, it will help my students to build basic foundational skills in computer engineering, while providing them the chance to discover new and innovative ways to collaborate with their peers. Thus, creating a interesting and engaging way to solve and uncover real world scenarios in order to thrive in the 21st Century workforce.
