Using these resources, scholars will have opportunities to use detective skills and math-based knowledge to solve mysteries. The idea that math is useful outside of the classroom is a stretch for many of the scholars in this area. One goal is to reach scholars at a level of thinking that inspires them to want to know more. Another goal is for our scholars to find usefulness in what they are learning every day and that success requires more than not only wanting to pass an end of year test but to change in a positive and healthy way. Not only will this translate to increased math scores but this will also be useful in their everyday life. Scholars will be able to directly relate their solving tactics and strategies to real-life situations and scenarios. Scholars will develop a sense of confidence in what they are learning and see how it is useful.
