I am a Head Start Teacher from Macomb County Michigan. I have the pleasure of teaching underprivileged children ranging in age from 3 years to 5 years. I give them opportunities to explore their world through their senses. Many of the children have not experienced a classroom setting, making and maintaining friendships and/or handling strong emotions. In my classroom I am working with children who have experienced trauma or are at-risk and may have difficulty handling their strong emotions. I believe giving my children opportunities to express themselves through hands calming activities, they will be able to gain confidence in expressing their thoughts and feelings.
