Lights, Camera, Learning! The camera will be an excellent tool in sharing strategies, techniques and activities that the students find engaging to our campus and beyond. I’ve attempted to use iPads to complete this task ,however it was difficult to edit the sound quality. After a bit of research I found that a DSLR camera was the way to go. Engagement is critical when learning. Our goal is to create educational content that aligns with our districts curriculum. So often I find resources that are engaging, but not informative or informative but not engaging. Literacy is a huge target with our students and I would like to share a resource that I have created to bridge fluency gaps from our Kindergarten to 3rd grade students. Currently, our students need support that empowers them to be successful without traditional paper flash cards. In a community where survival is priority one it seems that my approach to literacy must be innovative and effective. The goal is to share this resource with my school and ultimately my district. My students love opportunities to help others. P.S. They also love being in front of the camera. Our catchy high frequency word songs are a great way to build automaticity and sight word fluency. It’s worked for my kids and it can work for others as well.
