These ukuleles will give my students an opportunity to learn a new skill while learning about the culture of Hawaii. They will learn to play songs they know as well as learn new songs. Eventually they will write their own songs. Ukuleles can be used to teach chord structure and musical form. A native instrument to Hawaii, these instruments provide a multicultural perspective of the music world that they have not been exposed to previously. Ukuleles are also a lot of fun for the kids. Students can learn a variety of songs including songs on the radio, folk songs, and others.
