I created this project because I saw the enthusiasm that my students had for learning how to play basketball. As a English Teacher, basketball coach, and former division 1 college basketball player, I understand the importance of introducing future basketball fans and student athletes to excellent instruction. Therefore, it's important that I have the proper basketball equipment, so I can provide the best experience for our students. As a result, I have ordered an appropriate number of sized basketballs for our young men and women to practice their passing, dribbling, and shooting skills. Also, I will use the cones that I ordered to maintain a safe environment, and to set up specific basketball skill development stations that teach different skills. I have ordered whistles, jump ropes, and a basketball pump, because, all of these items are important to organize a well run basketball clinic. As a former player, and current teacher, and coach, I know that when young people engage in sports participation, they are less likely to be drawn to activities that are not in their best interest. Therefore, I hope that my project gets funded so we can inspire new basketball fans of the future.
