What little I am able to use a classroom set of computers, the experiences have been awesome. The students have been involved in working on web quests that my team and I have created. They work in online programs to increase math fluency and reading comprehension. They create word documents in Google Docs and if I have the opportunity, I would like them to make PowerPoints and have more experiences.
I work with students that do not have access to the technology that is being used around them every day. There are 60 computers for the 500 plus students that attend the school I am in. Computers offer so many opportunities for students to be successful. They get to experience and learn information from all over the world.
As a teacher there are benefits of having more computers in the classroom, that is why I am asking for ChromeBooks. Without computers, I feel like I am using so much paper. And everything is in black and white. I want to be more eco-friendly and have less stacks of paper for me to correct. I use the computers that I have available as often as possible, but it is never enough. I love it when the students have experiences with computers because they are learning skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.
