As an avid reader myself, I understand the importance of having books accessible at a young age. Kindergarten is an extremely important period in life in which students start to develop a love of reading. By providing us with these "materials," you are helping us not only to grow as readers, but you are helping us expand and explore other worlds through books. In my classroom, books are not merely materials. Books are our friends and they help us to learn and grow. In order to develop these long-lasting friendships, we need to start by having more books in our classroom. With your donation, you can help us get closer to our goal of having at least 10 books in our individual book baggy. Please help us make more friends through books! In addition, these new friends will help us build reading strategies. Within the first few months of school, students receive a book baggy with several stories. At the moment, we don't have enough books for each student. By donating to our project, you will help us have access to more books during our independent reading time. We will also use these stories during our literacy center period in which we learn how to become fluent readers by listening to others read. All of our friends will be used year around! These friends will help us understand the importance of reading but most importantly, they will teach us HOW to read. My students and I thank you in advance for considering our project!
