The STEAM resources I have requested will be used to educate and prepare the next generation of the American, and global workforce. With the help of these materials we hope to turn our third grade classrooms into places that inspire question asking, collaboration, communication, teamwork, innovation, and creative thinking.
All of the requested resources were chosen with our students in mind. With these materials our third graders will be introduced to activities to help them with their futures. One of our school mottos is "Terriers are Active Learners." What better way to get them interested in learning than STEAM kits? The "STEAM Fundamentals" kit will be used to jump start our classrooms and will lay the foundation for the other kits. The "Design-a-Game" kit will teach design thinking and I know it will be a big hit as the majority of our students LOVE games. The "Boost-R-Bots" engineering kit will help us take abstract concepts and turn them into engaging, hands-on learning experiences and encourage our future inventors and problem-solvers. The "Lux Blox" set will allow our students the freedom to create whatever their imagination can dream of while exploring concepts in science and math. The STEAM book set will be used to build our students' literacy skills through nonfiction texts while introducing STEAM topics. Connections, connections, connections.
This project will give our students the tools and methods needed to explore new and creative ways of problem-solving, displaying data, innovating, and linking multiple subjects. Through the STEAM activities we are requesting, we want our students to lose their inhibitions(there's no wrong answers), be more focused on the process which helps drive innovation, learn the power of observation, and increase their critical thinking skills.
