Technology in everyday life is here and students need to be equipped to embrace that reality. This isn't playing games or zoning out to apps. Students will be using research-verified, on-line learning software and toolkits in group-based, individual, and project-oriented educational activities. The Amazon Fire Tablets will be used daily in small group, blended learning settings. Students will use the tablets to access research-proven math and language arts apps, conduct research activities, write reports and informational papers, and collaborate and communicate with both in-school and off-campus peers and educators. Blended learning education embraces real-world technology in order to engage and increase student cognition, collaboration, and communication skills while simultaneously increasing learning, retention, and recall. These goals are equally wrapped up with an expectation that the elementary students of today will embrace any technology platform they encounter in the future with confidence and proficiency.
