Carpets are a necessary tool in the classroom. Classroom carpets allow each student to feel a sense of belonging by having their own spot for morning meetings, lessons, and other activities.
Having a carpet with individual spots also assists with classroom management, which is necessary for a productive lesson. Our class consists of some advanced readers so we need some chapter books to add to our classroom library to aid in their continuing development in reading. Math manipulatives are essential in first grade, as this is the year where students begin learning addition and subtraction. Many students benefit from having physical counting tools to assist them in grasping basic mathematical concepts.
