During push-in speech and language lessons, I sing a lot of songs and rhymes to encourage joint attention and student participation. We use varied body movements during these exercises, such as clapping, stomping feet, and swaying from side to side. The students love finding the "rhythm" this way but drums could assist them in participation.
Drums would help students, especially nonverbal students, to join in the fun! It would greatly enhance the lessons as music can be key to speech and language development! I love to give my students as many opportunities as possible to experience varied types of social interactions. Music offers this type of novel experience!
