Having a set of tablets for my students to utilize will open up our classroom to an overabundance of invaluable educational experiences. While the engagement that occurs in our classroom cannot ever be replaced by technology, this technology will make our learning experiences even more enriched. My students will have access to sites and apps that will allow them to collaborate and create endless projects, videos, presentations and much more.
My students will be able to explore coding through apps such as Scratch, Tynker, Lightbot and Nancy Drew: Code and Clues. They will be able to research, through the various search engines our school already owns, and use that research to create videos, presentations, and projects using Seesaw, Popplet, Sketch Nation Edu, Toontastic, Tellagami and Shadow Puppet (just to name a few). They will each be able to engage in mathematics games and sites such as Prodigy Game, Moby Max and Medieval Math Battle. The list goes on and on and on.
Having tablets will also open doors for my non-English speaking students. Having translations apps at their fingertips will help me provide a much more equitable and accessible education for them! These tablets will literally CHANGE my classroom! I look forward to seeing each of my students explore!
