My students are of different ethnic backgrounds from low income households where most are of single parenting. My students are so excited about school and they are very motivated to learn. They care about each other and they thrive to do their very best. They know at such a young age that education is very important. One of our school creed quotes the phrase "Knowledge builds on knowledge" and do they ever make that phrase a reality. They constantly build on each others' knowledge. My students make constant connections with cartoons they watch on television with units such as the Astronomy unit and The History of the Earth unit which tells me how well they comprehend. Learning about astronomy has opened up a whole new world for my students. They see themselves becoming astronauts, scientist, geologist or just being the second person to land on the moon. Our school is a public school where most of the students are bussed in from surrounding projects and shelters.
