These books will provide my students with more of an opportunity to read for enjoyment. I have seen the correlation between students who read for fun, and gains in their academic achievement. Words can not accurately explain how having these books will benefit my students.
The picture books selected will also be used as mentor texts for figurative language, comprehension skills, and cross-curricular activities in social studies and science.
My most important goal as a teacher is to prepare my students for their future and create lifelong learners. By having these books in my room, my students will have a deeper understanding of the concepts being taught and be able to develop their strengths to attain higher levels of achievement and ability.
