I picture my students starting their morning with a STEM bin and a challenge card. Can they use the materials to solve a problem? Imagine the students being given a card to, "Create a bridge using these magnetic tiles to help your teammates cross a river." I picture my students working together to solve the problem and having fun in the process.
Instead of walking into school being greeted by a worksheet and another boring Monday morning, students could be engaged and excited to start their day. My students would rotate STEM bins throughout the course of a week, and start each day with play. More and more research is coming out about the need for students to participate in more play to engage them in their learning. I want my students to use STEM play to enhance their problem solving skills and to think outside of the box.
