Literacy centers are a big part of the kindergarten day. During center time, the students work either independently or cooperatively with a small group to reinforce skills we are learning at the time. Students need centers that will foster learning and keep them engaged.
Self-correcting centers give them the autonomy to feel accomplished as they take charge of their learning!
The Hot Dots system will enable them to work indepedently while I work while I pull students for individual remediation. They will help my students on the level of learning that they are functioning at, differentiating the learning as needed. For instance, some students may need work on the ABS's while others are ready to blend sounds, read sight words, and begin the reading process.
These hot dots can also be used during the math block to reinforce number knowledge, patterns, shapes, and one-to-one correspondence during math centers.
