I am trying to create a reading environment for my students. We have a small carpet in my room and the kids rush to it during independent reading time. I need more space! The new carpet allows for students to spread out comfortably throughout our classroom to read. Books of many different genres and levels will enable students to choose from a variety and find new books to enjoy. I have been inspired by The Book Whisperer and I want to create that environment for my students. I have always had the love of reading and want to impress that on my students. The more I have in my room, the better the chance my students will have a bright future. We will use the Write & Wipe boards daily for ELA skills practice. The kids like the quick, interactive practice. Grammar and spelling tend to be tedious, but they enjoy the practice on the wipe boards. It makes for a quick assessment for me as well.
