Many of my students are living in poverty in homes that do not have books for them to read. Despite the many hardships that my students face, they come to school enthusiastically with a love of learning and reading. However, my classroom library is inadequate to meet their varied needs. As a first year teacher, I lack the necessary classroom library that is needed to foster my students’ love for reading. Having a wide range of leveled books will greatly help all of my students from those who are just beginning to read to those who are reading independently and have begun reading chapter books.
