I have a group of 20 very energetic and enthusiastic 2nd graders. Nine of my students receive free lunch. Numerous cultures are represented in the school as whole. Each of my students brings an incredible amount of curiosity and knowledge to our classroom community. They are constantly interested in acquiring knew knowledge and interesting information from a variety of sources. I have taught them how to use multiple resources to find information. For example, we are in the process of studying fossils and dinosaurs. As this is an exciting topic for 2nd graders, they have gathered books, and found information in encyclopedias and on the Internet. They are always excited about reading and sharing what they learn and know with each other. I encourage them to speak in front of the class to bring their knowledge and excitement to their peers. They also recently wrote reports on animals that camouflaged. They relished in the excitement of presenting their findings to each other.
