This rich and powerful children's literature library focuses on my students overcoming bullying, making better decisions, solving conflicts, and building self-esteem. Through the use of literacy and the books in this project, I would like to nurture positive relationships with all my students.
I serve every student at my school. Not only am I a special needs resource teacher, but I am also a counselor intern, on my way to getting my school counseling degree. My goal is to reach every child! My special needs students need so much to succeed as they struggle academically, socially, and emotionally. I want to teach my students the language to describe and understand their emotional experiences and promote reflection. I want them to develop self-esteem and confidence and learn ways to challenge themselves and face and overcome any challenges that come before them.
I want all my students to leave elementary school feeling successful and empowered academically, socially, and emotionally.
