The materials our class requested will assist us in creating a fun learning environment using technology, rather than just paper and pen like we usually do. A few ways we plan to incorporate technology into the classroom is by having group exit tickets done via a class discussion board or in google apps. I will be able to teach concepts i class using simulations. Simulations include elements of a story: characters, a plot, an interesting setting that plays a part in the program. The theme revolves around an education topic: civics, history, or science. Students are asked to jump into the story and make decisions about how it progresses, defend their decisions, experience the consequences of that and rethink if necessary. It requires critical thinking and problem solving to move through levels. We also plan to blog in class using Kidblogs and Edublogs. These type of blogs make it easy for students to express their thoughts not only with words, but images, color, movement, video, audio, multimedia.
