We are requesting “Apple Boxes”to allow for flexibility in seating, increased student engagement in our daily practice, and the ability to demonstrate their performance abilities on different levels by using these boxes. The use of variety height levels in a classroom has been shown to increase student engagement. When students or the teacher are being highlighted on a “stage” like platform, this helps to build confidence and presentation skills in front of an audience. My students will use the boxes when they speak, sing, or are performing for an audience.
By “setting the stage to engage” in my classroom, the students will use these boxes to build confidence in their performing and speaking abilities. They will learn to track their speaker or performer and gain a deeper understanding of why eye contact is an important skill for performing and presenting in any content area.
