Not every school has the resources necessary to take their students on a bus, airplane . . . or spaceship. However, the MacBook can provide experiences in ways never before possible. Many national parks and museums, such as Gettysburg, the Louvre, and Museum of Modern Art, have apps designed for virtual visits. These navigational tools are also great for classrooms that can't make the trip. In fact, a variety of free apps can be used as virtual field trips so that children can travel the world from our classroom! These virtual field trips will be student led, infusing curriculum objectives with relevance and rigor. In addition, the MacBook can be integrated during class demos, critiques, and instructional time. The addition of digital recourses and technology in the art room will certainly be a tool to deepen student learning, critical thinking, collaboration and their creativity skills.
