My students think they don't like to read, but they just haven't found the right book yet! I've been struggling to really engage my students in reading. Our department has decided to commit to independent reading and giving students total control over what they read. Hopefully students will get hooked on a contemporary, high-interest novel they're reading in class and continue to read at home! These novels will be on bookshelves surrounding students so they won't have to go to the library. We'll have book talks throughout the year so students can share their books and inspire others to read!
