My students have Autism and social interactions can be challenging. These items will allow us to create opportunities to learn, understand and practice working together, taking turns, waiting, following directions, supporting peers when losing, congratulating peers when winning and celebrating accomplishments.
What motivated you as a child and do you remember your favorite game growing up?
All these items were selected based on my student's interests. Incorporating their interests into our experiences sparks internal motivation to participate. These games will allow us to discuss feelings, make predictions, make connections to personal experiences and create memories that can spark conversations when reflecting back on those moments.
All these activities will facilitate the practice of social skills with the goal of making social interactions less challenging and positively memorable.
