The 10-inch android tablets will greatly enhance the opportunity for my classes to become more technology literate. Currently, we share approximately 100 laptops with the entire school and there are not always enough to go around. Because we are an alternative school, we are generally the last school to get any new technology. We usually receive refurbished laptops or older laptops once the other schools receive new ones.
The number of students during this 21st Century who do not know how to operate or navigate a computer/laptop is very high in our school. Most students come in not even knowing how to login to the school website which allows them access to their grades and their school email. I have noticed that when students receive the knowledge on how to find out what their grades are, they take more interest in the grades they make and try to keep up with their work.
These tablets will allow more access for the students to complete Google classroom assignments or to use websites such as Kahoot, Flipgrid, Vocabulary.com or Flipquiz to help them prepare for quizzes or test. These tablets will be just the beginning of their journey towards being Technology Literate!
