I have been working in the 6th grade for almost 10 years, during this time I have noticed that "normal" seats just do not work for some students. Each child has a unique learning style and flexible seating is a way to help them learn while being able to move around. I have a high population of students that need to move all the time and I have used exercise balls and different stools that I have borrowed and it has helped them concentrate better and not get as distracted while they are working. I feel that by giving the children flexible seating options it will help impact their learning.
