We need active seats, wobble chairs and lap desks for flexible seating options in their Kindergarten classroom like yesterday! My Kindergartners must have flexible seating options. Flexible seating gives students the ability to make choices. Students feel empowered and in control of their environment when they are able to make decisions on their own.
Flexible seating also allows students to move. Students are able to bounce on balls, wobble, and rock increasing oxygen flow to the brain. Physical activity is linked to a higher scholastic performance in students. Lastly, flexible seating allows a student to get comfortable.
If a student is not comfortable they are probably not paying attention and therefore unproductive. Just think of a time where you were in a seat that was uncomfortable. It is my responsibility to make my students learning environment as productive as possible and flexible seating will help me do just that!
