The talented high school students learn how to sculpt, paint, draw and more by having access to an open artroom. An open artroom is set up in smaller sections specific to materials so students can create and excitement in a multitude of different materials and with unique and personal ideas. Design thinking strategies and the creative process is highlighted in this art room as students explore issues that are important to them and their future.
Through donors choose I have been able to start a printmaking section in the art room. I am also currently working on a small metals casting and fabricating area for jewelry.
Students want to expand their understanding of image making. Even at the high school level, we want to play and engage in the physical world in creative and new ways. To keep this creative spark alive we need to give students materials that captivate their imagination of exploring and expressing.
