My project hopes to provide tangible physical manipulatives to the different learning centers in the class. Hands-on learning is very impactful and meaningful with my students. They tend to retain knowledge much better when they can interact with the lesson. The Sight-Word Puzzles will provide students hands-on practice during literacy centers. The Blank Books will allow my little ones to practice their writing skills. Numbers Match-Ups and Pigs Spin & Count will bring a very much needed interactive dynamic to the math learning center in class. Class headphones are in desperate need for the computer learning center. And finally a pencil sharper for my future writers.
A love of learning is what I hope instill in my students with this project. At this stage of their academic career young students need learning to be engaging and interactive, so it's meaningful to them. My project of interactive learning centers is designed to be interactive and engaging hopefully producing students who love to learn. It this love of learning that reflects APS's vision of being a high-performing school district with inspiring educators that families engage and the community trusts the system. The APS CLL Grow. Lead. Transform. Mini-Grant presents a wonderful and inspirational opportunity to put that vision into practice.
There is a tremendous need for the these items and my project. My students need to be proficient in both reading and math and this project aims to be the stepping stone to helping them achieve that. While the items we are in need don't seem all that impressive they are a must to ensure my students can experience hands-on learning so they embrace and enjoy learning to read and doing math.
