I teach at a beautiful in North Miami, where most of my students come from high-poverty homes. After Hurricane Irma struck, their lives have not quite returned to normal, as they struggle even more to get the supplies needed for school. As a close community of teachers, the Oak Grove staff and I try to accommodate and facilitate in areas where there is a great need, starting with the classroom. This year we made the grade of "A" so we are determined to maintain this standard. As teachers who care, it is our common goal to ensure that all of our Oak Grove Tigers learn in an environment that is rich in the resources they need in order to be successful in life. Our school is currently in the process of being a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) designated school; therefore, exposing our students to new technological advances will also put them at a greater advantage.
