At a conference, I heard a speaker say "Kids should WANT to come to school. School should be magical and exciting. Kids should feel valued. SCHOOL SHOULD BE LIKE DISNEY WORLD." Being a self proclaimed Disney Junkie, I know first hand how amazing Disney World is and since hearing that quote-that has been my goal. Now that doesn't mean I want my classroom to be an amusement park, but I want kids to want to come back every day and feel inspired, invigorated, and I want my classroom to have a similar magical feeling as one would experience in Disney World!
Creating a sense of family and fun in my classroom is the key to this magical feeling. By switching the rooms from desks to tables, students don't feel isolated or excluded-we are all part of one team-a family.
