This year we will be teaching Common-Core aligned curriculum such as Eureka Math, KIPP Wheatley Reading and Writing, and SRA Reading Mastery. We also instruct teacher-created lessons that are focused on individual student growth goals. Teachers are constantly using data, taken daily, weekly, and throughout each quarter, to drive instruction. We pull many small groups to remediate students at each individual level. Materials are a critical component of purposeful and meaningful teaching. Even the best teacher cannot meet every child at his or her level without proper supplies. The items in my cart will benefit not just one classroom, but an entire grade-level. Our 2nd grade students were also the founding Kindergarten and 1st grade students of our school, so they have always been the first group to experience a new grade alongside their teachers. We want to set this grade up for success, which requires strong backwards planning. As the first, and only, group of students to experience each new grade-level in its founding year, we want to give them the same high quality school experience as the students following them. Please help me purchase materials for our grade. I will be working with three teachers who are new to our school this year; I hope to provide them with quality supplies so that they feel prepared and successful and instructors!
