Students who come to school need to feel safe, cared for and all too often, they need to be fed, to have their basic needs, met. That is the reality we as teachers face each and every day. My students have a need to feel fed and cared for. Often times they can not spare from their home pantry for snack time here at school. That is where this project helps to fill that gap.
Without this project, some students may have to worry about not being able to bring something from home for snack time at school. Being able to provide them with a snack each day helps them to know that they are loved and cared for, while also taking that worry away from them. Some of my students are very hungry during the day and if providing them with snacks is what they need, then that is what I think we should give them. I have requested crackers, granola bars, and more.
