By giving students a way to collect and display the information from the activities (such as using the CBR’s to create linear functions) will give them ownership of the ideas. Also, being able to create and chronicle these classroom created experiences will give students the ability to refer back to an actual point in time when they personally experienced an idea or concept. Therefore giving them something concrete to connect the abstract mathematical ideas to as we learn and explore new ideas. These background experiences must be created in the classroom because most students don’t get these life-like experiences outside of school.
