A majority of my students come from a low economic household as well as have diverse language needs. They also come with a varying level of background knowledge and educational needs.
By having an in class set of headphones they will be able to improve listening skills, increase background knowledge, and meet their educational needs while engaging in science. They will use them for hyperdocs which address their language, content, and technological learning, fostering 21st century learning and ISTE standards. They will also be able to have the assessments read to them without singling them out for a separate testing area. This also allows all students, not just identified students, to have the option of having assessments read to them. They will use them to increase background knowledge during interactive labs through simulations and short videos.
