I am a full time instructional coach in one building- South Prairie Elem, a k-5 building. I would say that 75% of my days are spent in the classrooms in my school, about 25% of my time is spent in PLC grade level meetings. I do my coaching in the classroom right along side of teachers in order to help push student learning forward. I do this in a variety of ways! I co-teach, teach in tandem, micro model lessons, plan lessons and units and work right along the grade level teams in my school. The students in my building see me as a teacher, as do my co-workers. I work with small groups of kids to re-teach or extend their learning. Another thing that I do is plan job-embedded PD for teachers. Sometimes this is through video taping their lessons and then reflecting on them with them, and other times it is through support and finding resources! I definitely see myself as a teacher- my classroom has just gotten bigger!
