To love science is to experiment. To experiment, gather data, analyze and draw conclusions is critical to building a love of science. My students at Southport Middle school love to experiment. Through experimenting, my students learn to understand their world, learn to work together as fellow scientists, and learn that they are teammates in each other's learning.
In my classroom, we do as many experiments that I can do with my students. Seeing their "light bulb" light up when they observe a reaction empowers them as learners and me as their teacher.
It's that "light bulb" that I plan lessons for students to attain and experience, that they share at home with their friends and family. I live for "light bulb" moments!
